Father of Adolf Hitler Upset at Removal of Children from Home
Topping the weird parenting news front today, the father who named his son Adolf Hitler Campbell says his children were wrongfully removed from their home by child welfare services. Heath Campbell made news a few weeks ago when a bakery in New Jersey refused to make a cake for little Adolf’s birthday because of the boy’s name. Shorty after that the son and his two siblings were removed from their home by child welfare workers.
Welfare services have not commented on why the kids were removed citing privacy concerns about the case. Their father says his daughter, JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell, was sick and in a dirty diaper during their last granted visitation.
Early in the story the child welfare agency did say that a bad name alone isn’t grounds for removal from the home. It raises some concerns, however, about the degree to which these parents have considered the best interest of the kids when giving them names like “Adolf Hitler” and “Aryan Nation”. In my book that is child abuse. I don’t want to step on anyone’s freedom to give kids stupid names but seriously - consider the major impact these names will have on their ability to go to school, get married, or gain employment. For now the kids remain with family services until further hearings on the case.

I had not heard of the daughter’s name till now. That’s…interesting.
I hate that because child welfare can’t comment on the case, it somehow comes across as they’re the bad guy and hiding something. The dad’s comment about the girl being sick and in a dirty diaper is also misleading. When I was foster parenting, DFACS required that a child be brought in for visitations needing things. They want the birth parents to have the opportunity to take care of the child during the visits. I sent my foster son in hungry, but that doesn’t make me a bad foster parent. It was what was required, and sure as heck I was sitting out in my car with a bottle at the ready, just in case they forgot to bring one or never got around to feeding him. It’s also the time of year when lots of kids are sick.
There is way more to this story than what we’ve been told. I hope it works out for the best, no matter what the outcome.
