Welcome to Unprofessional Parenting!

This blog is designed to navigate through my own parenting adventures and to share some of the not so perfect moments with you.  I have one son who is two years old and I’m expecting another baby in February of next year.  I’m a researcher at heart so I’ve read countless parenting books and I’ve subscribed to tons of blogs but it seems to me like there is something missing from all this material.  I very rarely see an honest parenting report.

Have you ever locked your baby in the car with the keys? I have. I also stopped my shopping cart behind my car and as I unloaded groceries at some point when I turned away the cart and my 8-month old son rolled away at high speed across the parking lot (he was fine and I think he actually enjoyed the ride).  The point of all this is that I’m convinced that I’m not the only one who has done these things. For a long time I wouldn’t tell anyone because I feared the “bad parent” judgment but they’re honest mistakes and kind of funny in retrospect.

So no, I’m not the only one who has done it but I might be the only one who will admit to it! So come along with me as I divulge some of my most embarrassing parenting moments with the goal of helping you all realize that a good parent is not necessarily a perfect one!
